Attached are PDFs of the papers I handed out at the 2011 and 2012 wincon Plushie Workshops.

To make a basic head and body, use the solid inner line of the "outline" pattern, backstitch everything except the neckline, turn the head/body inside-out, stuff with your choice of cotton or poly-fill, and whip-stitch the neckline closed.

* Basic Stitches
* Shirts
* Pants
* Vests
* Jackets
* Outline

Drop a comment here if you have any questions about the patterns!

This is a plushie of Jon Pertwee's Third Doctor from Doctor Who. I made this for my sister for Christmas and was a little rushed, so I didn't make it quite as exact as I wanted. His shirt is more fringey than ruffles, but I think it came out well considering the rush.

First off, a huge thank you to my friends and family. Without their help and support, I don't want to know where I would be today.

I'd like to thank niccals on deviantART for being my inspiration. She makes the cutest plushies, and if she hadn't shared her amazing talent online I probably would never have started making plushies myself. Go check her out, and order some plushies from her if you can - you won't regret it!

That being said, you will probably notice that my plushies are similar in style to hers. While I have based my designs using her plushies as inspiration, I have crafted all of my patterns from scratch and try to keep my designs different from hers. Still, I want credit to go to her for being amazing and awesomely creative and for taking my interest in making plushies in the spirit of flattery in which it was intended. :)

Huge thanks to laser_radiation for helping me host the Build-A-Plushie workshop at wincon '11. I don't think I would have been able to do it without a few more mental breakdowns if not for you! <333

Thanks to laser_radiation, celtic_cookie, and nightlovechild for being a creative sounding board. If not for your input, my plushies wouldn't look as good as they do!

Lots of love to all the Liferuiners, you know who you are, who put up with my squee and let me rant and show off when I needed to. <3

Thanks to Shehera M. and Betty S. for their donations of cloth and materials.

~*~

That being said, here goes nothing. If you didn't know already, I funded the workshop at Wincon '11 out of pocket, and am prepared to do the same for Wincon '12, because I love plushies and I think everyone should have a chance to make something to cuddle. Still, I'm not so proud as to turn down any help you would like to offer (and I've been told by my friends that it doesn't hurt to ask).

If you would like to donate to PlushieOnTheSun, please click the following button. If you have a preference for how your donation is used (i.e. as reimbursement for Wincon '11's workshop, towards supplies for Wincon '12's workshop, towards a Plushie donation to the Wincon '12 raffle, etc.), please leave a note in the text box or comment on this post. No donation is too small. Thank you so much!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED laser_radiation AND MY WORKSHOP, BOTH IN BODY AND IN SPIRIT!!! All the love in the world! <33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333

Of course, an hour or two is not much time to complete an outfit for the first time, especially if you have never sewn before or were making more than one plushie, so if you find yourself stuck or needing some help, here I am. Ask me anything, and I'll answer to the best of my ability - please be as specific as you can, with pictures or drawings if possible. :)

Once I get back home, I will also attach to this post the patterns that I handed out at the workshop. Feel free to print them out, send them to other fangirls, etc.

Please comment with pictures when you're done with your plushies! I'd love to see your end results!!!

Eleventh Doctor - almost done!

The Eleventh Doctor plushie, now with a jacket! Completed jacket has lapels, buttons, fake pocket flaps on the front, and elbow patches on the back. I'm rather in love with it.

Now all I need is a sonic screwdriver bead and to decide what I'm going to make his boots out of. I wanna do some kind of leather-look-a-like, but I haven't found the right material yet.

But, still. The jacket is a huge accomplishment, and I feel really proud at how it turned out.

Martha Jones - Red Jacket - Unfinished plushie

Martha Jones - Red Jacket - Unfinished plushie. She's got jeans, shirt, hair, and eyes. She still needs shoes, red jacket, and hoop earrings (not sure how I'm going to make the earrings yet). Every time I show her to anyone, they always say they love the hair, which makes me grin.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how she's turning out.

Fun fact: You can't see it in these pics, but the jeans actually have two working back pockets and a fly embroidered on the front. Also, if you are detail-oriented, the shoulder straps twist like the shirt in the show does, and in the same directions as the original shirt. Again, the shirt fabric isn't an exact match for the original, but it's a close color match and I think it 'feels' the same.

Please comment!!!

Eleventh Doctor - Blue Bowtie - Unfinished plushie. He's got hair, eyes, shirt, pants, bowtie, and suspenders. He still needs shoes, jacket, and a sonic screwdriver that I'm planning to make out of polymer bead clay. Huge thanks again to my friends who helped me get Eleven's hair just right.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how he's turning out.

Fun fact: The suspenders are crossed in the back, and the jacket will be removable. Also, that's a bit of removable cardboard under his hair keeping it from getting flattened while I work.

Please comment!!!

Amy Pond - Wee Amelia Pond - Unfinished plushie

Amy Pond - Wee Amelia Pond - Unfinished plushie. I lifted her skirt to show you the red wellies - they barely peek out when the skirt is all the way down. Still need to add the red jacket, and a little smiley-faced apple I'm gonna make out of polymer bead clay. Couldn't find a print fabric identical to her nightgown on the show, but I thought this looked nice. I also love the red buttons.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how she's turning out.

Fun fact: The red wellies are snug but not attached to the body - you can slip them off and on if you want. The jacket will also be removable, but I'm thinking of sewing the apple bead to her hand, so I need to remember to make it small enough that the jacket could slip over it.
